Note: DO NOT remove the alpha characters from phone extension field. DO NOT "simplify" the registration password. Either of these is likely to get you hacked one day. True, there are multiple layers of security, but disabling any one of them "because it's easier" is not something we recommend or support.

Credentials to set up phones

3CX

3CX: Right click in main screen and choose "Accounts", then new or edit.

Note: DO NOT remove the alpha characters from phone extension field. DO NOT "simplify" the registration password. Either of these is likely to get you hacked one day. True, there are multiple layers of security, but disabling any one of them "because it's easier" is not something we recommend or support.

In Vicidial, get credentials from "Admin->Phones->cc100" (example if the phone is "cc100" with registration password of "uswrd6eW")

  1. From Vicidial: Phone Extension "cc100"
    • Extension/ID (both fields)
  2. From Vicidial: Server IP -> (sometimes this is a "local" IP and you may need to use the External instead).
Seriously consider using a domain name instead if one has been assigned to the IP of this server. However, some phones can prefer IP or even refuse to work with a domain name under certain circumstances.
    • I am out of the office - external IP
  3. From Vicidial: Registration Password: uswrd6eW
    • Password

X-lite

Get to Sip Account Settings from top "down triangle" menu, then add or properties. One account limit!

    • User Name/Authorization user name (both fields)
  2. From Vicidial: Server IP -> (sometimes this is a "local" IP and you may need to use the External instead).
Seriously consider using a domain name instead if one has been assigned to the IP of this server. However, some phones can prefer IP or even refuse to work with a domain name under certain circumstances.
    • Domain
  3. From Vicidial: Registration Password: uswrd6eW
    • Password

Extra Considerations

3CX

  • Account Name: Friendly name to show in 3CX interface to choose between accounts. Keep it simple.
  • Caller ID: 10 digit US Phone (usually your corporate number)
  • Advanced Settings -> delete "stun server" value unless you experience one-way sound (which is what stun server's solve when double NATting).

X-lite

SIP Account Options

  • Check box for "Register with domain and receive incoming calls"
  • Select radio button for "Send outbound via: domain"

Non-Account options

From "down triangle menu", choose "options"

  • General section tab -> Application button -> UNcheck "Prompt me when an upgrade is available". Newer versions remove features.
  • Advanced section tab -> Network button -> Call Inactivity section: UNcheck "In times of network disruption ...." box.
  • Advanced section tab -> Network button -> Call statistics: UNcheck "Enable anonymous ...".
